Former Arsenal and Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger has passed away at the age of 48.

Former Alex Manninger, who played for both Arsenal and Liverpool, has sadly passed away at the age of 48 following a car accident.

The news of the Austrian goalkeeper’s death was confirmed by one of his former clubs, Red Bull Salzburg, in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Their statement read: “We mourn our former goalkeeper Alexander Manninger, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Alexander.”

The post was accompanied by an image of Manninger from one of his two spells at Salzburg, highlighting a career that lasted more than two decades.
