Mikey Moore joined Rangers on loan in early August 2025 after making his breakthrough at Tottenham. The highly rated teenager had already written his name into Spurs history, becoming the club’s youngest-ever Premier League player when he appeared off the bench against Manchester City in May 2024 at just 16 years old.
Long viewed as one of Tottenham’s brightest prospects, Moore committed his future to the club by signing a long-term contract last summer. With no pressure to rush his development, Spurs opted to send him out on loan to Rangers for the 2025/26 campaign — a decision that is now paying dividends.
After a slow start under Russell Martin, the 18-year-old has flourished since Danny Röhl took charge, growing into an important player for the Ibrox side. His impact was on full display in Rangers’ recent 5–1 win over Kilmarnock, where he produced both a goal and an assist.
Moore’s performances have quickly made him a fan favourite in Glasgow, helped by the fact he revealed his family have long held an affection for the club. His underlying numbers further underline his influence, with a strong shooting accuracy, regular dribble success, consistent chance creation and an impressive work rate off the ball. He is also heavily involved in progressing play into the final third, highlighting both his versatility and intelligence.
As a result, calls are growing for Rangers to try to keep Moore for another season. Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has publicly urged the club to push for a second loan spell, arguing that another year in Glasgow would be ideal for the youngster’s development.
Ferguson believes Tottenham would benefit in the long run by allowing Moore to remain at Rangers, suggesting that an extended loan could prepare him to return to North London as a ready-made first-team player in 2027. While Spurs may be tempted to bring him back sooner, concerns remain that a limited role could slow his progress.
With Moore having already made 21 senior appearances for Tottenham before his loan move, the club will want confidence that he can deliver consistently at the top level. The view from Rangers is clear: one more full season of regular football could be the final step in turning Moore into a guaranteed Premier League starter.
