Liverpool fans believe it’s time to have an honest and uncomfortable discussion about one particular player following the defeat to Wolves.

Liverpool F.C. supporters were united in their criticism of one player after the painful loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C..

The Reds returned to Premier League action on Tuesday, fresh from their 5-2 win over West Ham United F.C. last weekend. Playing ahead of rivals like Manchester United F.C., Aston Villa F.C. and Chelsea F.C., Arne Slot’s men had the chance to strengthen their push for a top-four finish and secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

Instead, they missed the opportunity after a hard-fought 2-1 defeat at Molineux.

Wolves took the lead in the second half when Rodrigo Gomes latched onto a pass from Tolu Arokodare and fired beyond Alisson Becker, despite pressure from Ibrahima Konaté. Mohamed Salah quickly equalised, but the visitors struggled to cope with the late onslaught.

Deep into stoppage time, André saw his deflected effort seal a dramatic win for the hosts.

The display left fans frustrated, with many pointing fingers at Virgil van Dijk for his part in the opening goal. The Dutch defender was outmuscled in the air by Arokodare, who shrugged him off before the move led to Wolves’ breakthrough. Although Van Dijk appealed for a foul, nothing was awarded — much to the anger of supporters online.

Several fans criticised the centre-back on social media, questioning how he was beaten so easily in an aerial duel, while others labelled the defending far too soft.

The result leaves Liverpool on 48 points, and they could slip to sixth depending on other results. They are set to return to Molineux for an FA Cup fifth-round clash before turning their attention back to European action against Galatasaray, followed by a league meeting with Tottenham later this month.
