The Dutch defender was outmuscled in the air by Arokodare, who shrugged him off before the move led to Wolves’ breakthrough. Although Van Dijk appealed for a foul, nothing was awarded — much to the anger of supporters online.
Several fans criticised the centre-back on social media, questioning how he was beaten so easily in an aerial duel, while others labelled the defending far too soft.
The result leaves Liverpool on 48 points, and they could slip to sixth depending on other results. They are set to return to Molineux for an FA Cup fifth-round clash before turning their attention back to European action against Galatasaray, followed by a league meeting with Tottenham later this month.
