Ignore Arne Slot — Liverpool fans have instead torn into a ‘hopeless’ player who delivered a ‘shocking’ performance against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool FC made the trip to face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final but were convincingly beaten 2-0.

PSG, the reigning champions, have shown they are more than capable of retaining their crown, having demolished Chelsea FC 8-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16. Arne Slot’s side were also eliminated by the French giants at the same stage last season.

This time, despite progressing further to meet in the quarter-finals, it was Luis Enrique’s team who started brighter. Désiré Doué opened the scoring early on with a deflected strike after just 11 minutes. After the break, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sliced through Liverpool’s defence to double the lead, finishing off a superb PSG move that involved 27 passes.
