Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on a Serie A goalkeeper, and the North London club have received encouragement in their chase for a new shot-stopper.
Reports suggest that Inter Milan are preparing a £16m bid for Guglielmo Vicario this summer, with the Nerazzurri already making initial moves toward securing his signature. Discussions between Vicario and Inter are said to be progressing well, and some sources even claim the Spurs No.1 has already agreed to join the Italian giants.
As a result, Spurs could look to Italy for a replacement and have now been handed a boost in their pursuit of an experienced alternative.
One option is Mile Svilar, who has recently emerged as a target for Tottenham. The 26-year-old AS Roma goalkeeper has impressed with consistent performances over the past few seasons and is reportedly available this summer.
According to reports, Roma are planning a significant squad rebuild. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League, the club may need to sell key players to fund new signings. Svilar is among those they are willing to let go, with a potential fee of around €50m (£43.5m), which would represent a valuable capital gain for the club.
However, Tottenham could face competition for his signature. Both Chelsea FC and Newcastle United are also monitoring the Roma goalkeeper, potentially complicating Spurs’ pursuit.
That said, earlier reports indicated that Chelsea might pull out of the race due to Financial Fair Play constraints, which could make it difficult for them to meet Roma’s asking price.
