Arne Slot has confirmed that Giorgi Mamardashvili has been hospitalized after suffering a serious injury, describing it as “an open wound.”

Arne Slot has shared an update on Giorgi Mamardashvili after the goalkeeper was stretchered off during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby.

“He has gone to the hospital. From what I saw, and what I’ve been told, it’s an open wound. It shouldn’t be a long-term injury, but we’ll have to see if he’s ready for next week,” Slot explained.

The goalkeeper needed treatment on the pitch before being taken off cautiously, which initially sparked concern.

Although the early indication is that the injury isn’t serious in the long run, Liverpool will wait for further medical updates before confirming his availability for upcoming matches.
