Arsenal transfer update as former Tottenham prospect Jaden Dixon joins from Stoke City
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of promising young defender Jaden Dixon from Championship side Stoke City.
Dixon, who developed in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy before joining Stoke in 2023, featured regularly at youth level for the Potters, making 49 appearances across their Under-18 and Under-21 sides. He also gained senior experience, playing six times for Stoke’s first team.
The defender made his senior debut in August 2024 during a 2–0 Carabao Cup victory away to Carlisle United, with his most recent outing coming in the same competition against Southampton in October.
At international level, Dixon has represented England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels, while also being eligible to play for Jamaica.
Arsenal confirmed the move in a statement on Tuesday evening, saying: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Jaden and welcome him to the club.”
Stoke City also acknowledged Dixon’s departure, with sporting director Jon Walters praising the teenager’s development since his arrival from Tottenham, adding that he leaves the club with their best wishes.
Despite his first-team experience, Dixon is expected to link up initially with Arsenal’s academy set-up, with several players currently ahead of him in the senior hierarchy. Sixteen-year-old Marli Salmon is viewed as his main competition for a future first-team opportunity.
Dixon becomes the second teenage addition to Arsenal’s youth ranks this window, following Evan Mooney’s arrival from St Mirren on deadline day. The Gunners also explored a loan move for Hearts forward James Wilson, though the 18-year-old instead joined Tottenham after a late deadline-day switch.
