What Brighton & Hove Albion supporters did to a tearful Hugo Ekitike as he left the pitch injured during the Liverpool match was disgraceful.

Supporters of Brighton & Hove Albion were heard booing Hugo Ekitike even as the Liverpool forward made his way off the pitch with an injury.

The French striker had earlier gone down following a collision with James Milner, shortly after the former Red had also challenged Dominik Szoboszlai. Although Ekitike initially tried to shake it off and continue, Arne Slot was ultimately forced into an early change, bringing on Curtis Jones in his place.

At first, Brighton fans appeared to be reacting to what they believed was time-wasting from Liverpool’s No.22. However, the jeers did not stop, even as a visibly emotional Ekitike was led off the pitch by the club doctor.

According to reports, the forward looked heartbroken as teammates tried to comfort him while he walked off, with the crowd continuing to jeer as he headed straight down the tunnel.
