Mauricio Pochettino remains the top choice among Spurs supporters to take over permanently, and relegation is not believed to be a deterrent. According to insider John Wenham, Pochettino would still be willing to return—even if the club were in the Championship.
Wenham suggested that Pochettino would embrace the opportunity to rebuild his legacy with the fans, taking pride in leading the club back to the top flight and reestablishing himself as a hero. He expressed strong confidence that Pochettino will eventually return as manager, while also criticizing the current ownership, including the Lewis family, for poor decisions since the departure of Daniel Levy.
He emphasized that bringing Pochettino back would be a popular move, noting that the most successful and enjoyable period for many fans in the past three decades came under his leadership. Wenham also described him as an outstanding manager.
Pochettino’s previous spell in charge makes him a leading candidate. During his time at the club, he guided Tottenham to a Champions League final and built a strong squad featuring players like Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min. Between May 2014 and November 2019, he recorded 160 wins in 293 matches, achieving a 54.61% win rate.
Whether Pochettino would take charge of a side outside the top flight remains uncertain, but his return would mark a significant moment for the club.
