Alfie Devine is beginning to come into his own at Preston North End, making the number ten role his own and delivering important contributions in the final third. The 21-year-old has scored eight goals in the Championship this season, consistently showing sharp instincts by arriving in the box at the right moments to finish chances.
The attacking midfielder is eager to maintain his impressive form and end the campaign strongly, with a clear objective in mind when he returns to Hotspur Way this summer.
Despite attracting interest from several Premier League clubs following his performances at Deepdale, Devine remains focused on his ambition of becoming a regular in Tottenham’s first team.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “Yeah, definitely. When you are at a club, the dream is always to play for them. Every single time I go back, that is something that I strive to do, and that’s my ambition. But sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. If that means another loan or whatever, it just depends on what comes of it. It’s the same as the rest of the boys coming from a loan. You’ve got to find a way to get your rhythm going, playing, and see where that takes you.”
While Devine continues to impress in the Championship, he is also watching his parent club battle to avoid relegation. He remains confident in Tottenham’s quality, insisting it is simply a matter of the players delivering on the pitch.
“Yeah, that is something everyone can see, but obviously everyone knows how good the players are there. I just think for them, it’s about getting back to what everyone knows they can do, given the players they have,” he added.
