Igor Tudor will not handle Tottenham Hotspur’s media responsibilities after their heavy loss to Nottingham Forest, having been informed of a bereavement in his family.
The Spurs manager went straight down the tunnel at full-time following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat, which leaves the club just one point above the relegation zone. It was later revealed that he had received news of the passing of a close family member.
According to Alasdair Gold, Tudor was excused from post-match duties, with assistant coach Bruno Saltor stepping in to address the media. Saltor explained that Tudor was dealing with a personal matter, which is why he took over, adding that Spurs performed well in the first half but were punished for minor errors and failed to capitalize on Forest’s mistakes.
With the international break now underway, Tottenham have three weeks before their next game — an away trip to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, following Sunderland’s derby victory over Newcastle United.
However, there is growing speculation that Tudor could be sacked before that fixture. Responding to the situation, Saltor acknowledged that such uncertainty is part of modern football, stressing that the squad will regroup after international duty and shift focus to the upcoming match.
On Tottenham’s poor home form, Saltor rejected the idea of a psychological issue, suggesting instead that opponents approach matches against Spurs with maximum intensity, meaning his players must match that level of focus and determination to achieve better results.
