Tottenham Hotspur are facing a serious battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League, and pressure is growing on manager Igor Tudor after a poor run of results.
Spurs suffered their third straight defeat on Thursday night against Crystal Palace, leaving Tudor still searching for his first point since taking over from Thomas Frank. Losses to Arsenal, Fulham and Crystal Palace have left Tottenham just one point above the relegation zone.
Results elsewhere have increased the pressure. Nottingham Forest and West Ham United both recorded important wins, tightening the situation for Spurs and raising doubts about whether Tudor can turn things around quickly enough. With only nine league matches remaining, the club faces an urgent decision as it tries to salvage the season.
There are growing calls for Tottenham to bring back former manager Harry Redknapp. Although Tudor has only overseen three games, supporters appear increasingly frustrated, with many leaving the stadium before half-time during the defeat to Crystal Palace.
Redknapp, now 79, has not managed since leaving Birmingham City in 2017 and later confirmed his retirement from coaching. However, Tottenham experienced some of their most successful and entertaining football during his time at the club. Former midfielder Luka Modrić once praised the side for playing “beautiful football” under Redknapp.
With Tottenham fighting to stay in the Premier League and only nine matches left, some believe bringing him back could lift morale among supporters and help stabilize the team.
Redknapp previously admitted he would welcome the opportunity to return to Spurs before Tudor’s appointment, although he acknowledged that such a call was unlikely. He stated that he would take the job without hesitation and believed he could help the team by focusing on basics such as hard work, teamwork, and restoring players’ confidence.
He added that Tottenham know how to contact him if they ever wanted to reach out, though he was not expecting the phone to ring.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Tudor could already be close to losing his job, meaning Tottenham may soon have to make another crucial managerial decision as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.
