Things could still get worse for Tottenham Hotspur — and alarmingly, they just might.
Although Spurs have not slipped into the relegation zone yet, it has been a dreadful week for the North London club, who are edging dangerously closer to the Premier League drop zone.
If Igor Tudor fails to turn things around quickly, the team could find themselves heading toward the EFL Championship. It would be a stunning fall for last season’s UEFA Europa League winners, but this week has made their worst fears begin to feel very real.
Results elsewhere have only increased the pressure. Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United both secured victories, while Nottingham Forest managed a draw against Manchester City. Those outcomes have intensified the situation for Spurs, who currently look like a team in serious trouble. With performances declining, Tudor’s position is already under scrutiny.
Uncertainty over Tudor’s future
The decision to dismiss Thomas Frank may have been justified, but it appears the club’s leadership waited too long before making the change.
Tudor’s temporary appointment was supposed to signal a fresh start. However, the only “new chapter” the club might be heading toward could be in England’s second tier.
The Croatian manager has now overseen three matches — all ending in defeat. The heavy 4–1 loss to Arsenal was a disastrous beginning, and further defeats to Fulham and Crystal Palace have only deepened the crisis.
Not all the blame falls on Tudor. Several players have delivered extremely poor performances in recent weeks, and matters worsened when stand-in captain Micky van de Ven was sent off during one of the games.
Reports from TEAMtalk suggest the Lewis family — the club’s owners — have held discussions within the past 24 hours about whether another managerial change could help rescue the season.
One name being considered is former Spurs striker Robbie Keane.
Why Robbie Keane could be a solution
Described as a “legend” by former teammate Teddy Sheringham, Keane built his reputation at Tottenham during his playing career rather than from the touchline.
Taking charge of the club right now would be a huge challenge for any coach. However, Keane offers two qualities Spurs desperately need: a deep understanding of the club and the ambition to prove himself at the highest managerial level.
Tudor, by contrast, appears unlikely to remain beyond this season, and both the manager and parts of the squad have struggled to show the fight required during this difficult period.
Keane’s mentality was always one of determination and resilience during his time at White Hart Lane.

With 122 goals in 306 games, Keane cemented his place among Tottenham’s memorable players. The question now is whether he could eventually become one of the club’s successful managers as well.
Initially, it would be a tough task for any new coach stepping into the current situation. Still, Keane has shown promise in management. He has enjoyed success with Ferencvárosi TC and Maccabi Tel Aviv, winning both the Hungarian and Israeli top-flight leagues.
That level of silverware is something the previously mentioned Frank had not achieved, which may offer Spurs fans a small reason for optimism.
Right now, though, trophies are not the club’s immediate concern. What they need most is unity and renewed belief — and appointing a respected club icon could help bring supporters together during a turbulent time.
Whether Keane would be willing to leave his current role and take on such a demanding challenge, however, remains uncertain.
