Sean Dyche would reportedly be hesitant to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur on a short-term basis, according to talkSPORT. Dyche is one of the candidates being considered if Spurs decide to dismiss interim manager Igor Tudor after his difficult start.
The former Burnley and Everton boss would prefer a deal that runs beyond the end of the current season, similar to the condition he reportedly sought when joining Spurs’ relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.
Appointing Dyche would effectively signal that Tottenham’s leadership believe they need a crisis manager capable of steering the club away from the threat of relegation to the EFL Championship. Other options being discussed include bringing back former interim boss Ryan Mason or turning to club legend Robbie Keane, who is currently managing Hungarian champions Ferencvárosi TC.
As previously reported by talkSPORT, the strict management style of Tudor has already caused friction with several players in the squad.
Konate’s uncertain future
The future of Ibrahima Konaté at Liverpool FC remains unclear as his contract is due to expire this summer and he has yet to agree to an extension.
This situation raises the possibility that he could follow former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold by leaving on a free transfer. Negotiations with Liverpool are ongoing, but Real Madrid are among the clubs closely monitoring the defender’s situation.
Konaté, 26, has made 110 appearances for Liverpool since arriving in a £36 million move from RB Leipzig in 2021. The Reds would prefer to keep him despite the arrival of young centre-back Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais FC at the end of the season, while another prospect, Giovanni Leoni, is expected back from injury.
Hall impressing Tuchel
Lewis Hall is increasingly being viewed as a potential solution to England national football team’s ongoing left-back issue ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Since taking charge, Thomas Tuchel has tested six players in that role. The one used most often, Myles Lewis-Skelly, is not a regular starter for Arsenal FC. Meanwhile, Nico O’Reilly has impressed for England but now plays mainly in midfield for Manchester City.
Luke Shaw of Manchester United is also hoping to return when Tuchel names his squad for the March internationals. However, sources say the German coach has been particularly impressed by Hall, especially after the 21-year-old performed well against Lamine Yamal in Newcastle United’s 1–1 UEFA Champions League draw with FC Barcelona. Hall currently has two senior England caps.
Fernandes considering exit
Mateus Fernandes could push to leave West Ham United if the club are relegated.
The Portuguese midfielder joined the Hammers from Southampton FC last summer in a £42 million deal and has been one of their standout players. However, he is unlikely to want to compete in the EFL Championship and has attracted interest from clubs across the Premier League and Europe.
Manchester United are among the sides monitoring Fernandes as they plan to strengthen their midfield during the upcoming transfer window. The 21-year-old has recorded three goals and three assists in 27 league appearances this season. ⚽
