Roberto De Zerbi is increasingly unlikely to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian coach has recently been linked with replacing Igor Tudor, but current indications suggest he prefers to wait until the summer before making a decision on his next move. While Spurs have not ruled out making another approach before the campaign ends, De Zerbi has so far shown no willingness to accept an immediate role.
However, a potential move could still be considered at the end of the season—particularly if Tottenham manage to retain their Premier League status.
De Zerbi has been without a club since leaving Olympique de Marseille in January, following their exit from the UEFA Champions League and a heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Prior to that, he guided Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 during his only full season in charge.
Before his time in France, the 46-year-old impressed at Brighton & Hove Albion, leading them to a historic sixth-place finish in the 2022/23 Premier League season—the club’s highest ever top-flight position.
Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on Tudor at Tottenham after a difficult start, with just one win in his opening seven matches. The club is actively exploring managerial alternatives, with names like Adi Hütter and Mauricio Pochettino also linked.
Tottenham currently sit just above the relegation zone after a 3–0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, leaving their top-flight status—and chances of attracting top managerial targets—hanging in the balance.
