However, the fixture will now be moved to a later date, with Chelsea set to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday, May 16.
Enzo Fernández scored the decisive goal in the semi-final victory over Leeds United, ensuring a positive start for Chelsea following the departure of Liam Rosenior. A new date for the Tottenham vs Chelsea fixture is yet to be confirmed, although it is expected to be scheduled after the FA Cup final.
Tottenham are currently set to host Leeds on Monday, May 11, which complicates the scheduling. If the rearranged London derby falls in the final week of the season, Spurs could find themselves playing after fellow relegation rivals West Ham United take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
With Spurs sitting two points adrift of safety, such timing could create a high-pressure scenario where they travel to face Chelsea knowing that anything less than victory would confirm relegation.
Despite the mounting pressure, head coach Roberto De Zerbi remains confident in his side’s chances of survival. He insisted that belief within the squad is strong and highlighted the quality and character of his players as key factors in their fight to stay up.
De Zerbi emphasized that the gap is only two points rather than an unmanageable deficit, adding that while West Ham are a strong side, Tottenham also possess the quality needed to avoid the drop.
