New: Manchester City director Hugo Viana has held talks with Eli Junior Kroupi’s agent.

Manchester City director Hugo Viana is said to have opened discussions with the agent of Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, who is also attracting strong interest from Liverpool.

The highly rated French youngster has enjoyed an outstanding Premier League campaign, netting 11 goals in 29 appearances so far.

Kroupi is widely viewed as a player with a bright future, and Liverpool and Chelsea are believed to be among the leading clubs monitoring the 19-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Sacha Tavolieri’s latest Sky report, City have now joined the race and made contact regarding a potential move, with Pep Guardiola reportedly a big admirer of the forward.

All signs point to Kroupi being one of the most in-demand players this summer, although no single club has emerged as a clear frontrunner for his signature just yet.

The teenager has progressed impressively at Bournemouth, but keeping hold of him could prove difficult given the growing interest.

That said, Bournemouth have a history of selling key players for substantial fees while maintaining their competitive level, as seen with the departures of Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez last summer, followed by Antoine Semenyo’s move to City in January, yet Andoni Iraola’s team has continued to perform strongly.
