Roberto De Zerbi has stated he could walk away from Tottenham Hotspur under one specific condition, insisting that the threat of relegation is not his main concern.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi has outlined the condition that could see him leave the club, stressing that relegation is not the decisive issue.

Spurs made a major move to bring De Zerbi back into management as they battle to stay in the Premier League, going to great lengths to secure the former Olympique de Marseille boss. For months, he had been viewed as the ideal successor to Igor Tudor, although it was initially expected he would wait until the summer following his departure from Marseille earlier this year.

De Zerbi had previously turned down Spurs, but reconsidered after being presented with a highly lucrative offer by the struggling side.

The Italian has dismissed suggestions that he would automatically leave if Tottenham were relegated to the Championship, but admitted another issue could influence his future.

“The problem is not the league,” he said when asked if he would remain regardless of their division next season. “The problem is maintaining a strong relationship with the board and sharing the same vision for the project.”

When pressed further, he confirmed that alignment with the club’s hierarchy is the key factor: “Yes. Everyone on the same page.”

Despite their relegation concerns, Spurs remain active in the transfer market. They are reportedly leading the race to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool FC on a free transfer and could pursue additional deals if they retain their top-flight status.

A move for Marcos Senesi of AFC Bournemouth has also been discussed, though the agreement could still fall through under certain conditions. Another potential signing from Leeds United is also being considered.

At the same time, changes to the squad appear inevitable, with several departures expected this summer regardless of whether Spurs avoid relegation, while a small core of players has been identified as untouchable.
