Tottenham Hotspur have made initial contact with managerial target Adi Hütter as they prepare for a potential change in the dugout during the international break.
The 56-year-old Austrian coach, who has been without a club since leaving AS Monaco last October, is understood to be interested in taking charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
With Igor Tudor yet to secure a Premier League win during his interim spell and the club slipping dangerously close to the relegation zone, Spurs’ hierarchy are ready to act. Heavy defeats — including a damaging home loss to Nottingham Forest — have intensified doubts over Tudor’s ability to guide the team to safety.
It is expected that Tudor will leave the club by mutual consent in the coming days, allowing the board to move swiftly during the international break to appoint a replacement.
Hütter has now emerged as a leading candidate. Despite earlier reports suggesting no contact had been made, sources indicate that initial approaches have taken place to assess his availability.
The Austrian brings extensive experience across Europe, having enjoyed success with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was twice named Bundesliga Coach of the Year. He has also managed Borussia Mönchengladbach, BSC Young Boys — winning league titles — and Red Bull Salzburg. During his time at Monaco, he guided the club to strong Champions League qualification before departing.
Known for an energetic, high-pressing style similar to that of Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, Hütter is seen as a coach capable of injecting intensity into the current Spurs squad. While talks remain at an early stage, he is believed to be open to the challenge of helping Tottenham avoid relegation.
Any potential appointment is expected to be short-term, with the club likely to reassess its long-term options in the summer. Targets under consideration include Roberto De Zerbi, while former manager Mauricio Pochettino continues to have strong admirers within the club.
Meanwhile, Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore is keen to extend his stay with Rangers FC, who are eager to retain him. Spurs are open to another loan deal, though a potential relegation could influence their decision.
In a separate development, Pochettino recently stated that he “loves England” and described it as an ideal place to manage, further fuelling speculation about a possible return. He also confirmed that Tottenham had previously contacted him during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, suggesting he remains firmly on their radar.
