Supporters of Liverpool F.C. delivered a strong statement to the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, during their Premier League clash at home against Crystal Palace F.C..
The protest follows last month’s announcement of a slight rise in ticket prices at Anfield, set to take effect next season—a move heavily criticised by the LFC Supporters Board and the Spirit of Shankly group. Acting on that backlash, SoS organised a demonstration during the match, with a large number of fans making their dissatisfaction clear.
In the 13th minute, thousands inside Anfield raised yellow A4 cards bearing anti-FSG messages, creating a striking visual protest. This display was backed by loud, explicit chants from sections of the crowd, voicing frustration and accusing the ownership of prioritising profit over supporters.
The scale of the protest made it clear this was far from a fringe reaction, with widespread participation and coordination among fans. Despite the club posting record revenues for the 2024/25 season and FSG reportedly seeing a £225 million boost in net worth, many supporters felt the ticket price increase was unjustified—especially during a broader cost-of-living squeeze.
Whether the demonstration will lead to a change in policy remains uncertain, but it undeniably showcased unified opposition from the fanbase. Visiting supporters also showed solidarity by applauding the protest, underlining shared concerns among match-going fans across clubs.
